Madyn Stevie Frazier

On June 2, 2011 Madyn went in to her 18 month well child check-up as a happy healthy little girl. Once in the appointment she was told she needed some blood work done. What came next was a nightmare never expected by any parent. Her parents were told that she had leukemia and she was scheduled for surgery the next day to have a shunt put in.

The next week went by like a blur filled with testing, chemo treatments, transfusions and more medications. The family stayed in the hospital for a week and was released the next Friday. They were given a tentative schedule for the next 2-1/2 years worth of testing and treatment for their sweet daughter.

Amongst all the bad news there was some positive news as well. They did find that it was the type of cancer that is 90% curable as well as when performing spinal taps they found that it had not progressed into her spinal fluid which is great news. We are thanking God for his blessings over this situation. Through it all Madyn continues to light the world and the hearts of the people around her with her smile and her infectious personality. She is such a little sweetheart.

However, as Madyn's parents are taking care of her and doing what is best for her these treatments, medications and hospital stays do not come without cost. This is why I have been putting together different fundraising opportunities. I am also asking if anyone would like to donate to this family please click the donate button on the right side of the blog. If you would rather send a check please send me an email at johannamott@gmail.com and I will give you my address. I have a goal of raising $1500 by July 31st and if I reach that goal I will shave my head to honor Madyn. Her hair has already started falling out and with the upcoming treatments it will all be gone soon. As you consider donating please pray for their family as well. God is bigger than this and he has a plan in all of this. Thank you!
